The Aliens by Annie Baker

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) - Master of Fine Arts Program

Sky Festival - January 2016

A.C.T.'s annual Sky Festival in the M.F.A. program challenges its artists over a 3-week period to put together hour-long versions of plays and new works. I directed 3 M.F.A. acting students in Annie Baker's moving play The Aliens, which is set in Vermont in the back alley of a coffee shop. This was performed in the tight confines of A.C.T.'s patio overlooking the San Francisco skyline and examined how small the 3 main characters ( Jasper, KJ, and Evan) felt in the expanse of the whole world as they pondered about their stagnant lives in the rural northeast.
